A press release in December 2006 reported that a Composix Kugel Hernia Mesh Patch patient was suing medical product manufacturer Davol, Inc. of Rhode Island because of severe bowel problems and other issues associated with the defective medical product.

The Kugel Mesh Patch was originally recalled in an FDA Class I recall in 2005, which as since been updated to include other products in the category, including the Composix Kugel Patch, the very patch that was used in the plaintiff's surgery.
